The year 2020 was a remarkable year for the ASSA. As the fear of a world wide pandemic swept the country, large organizations used an abundance of caution to avoid the potential negative effects. The ASSA deferred its decision to host a championship until felt it was safe and used the SSSF as a guide post. If they felt tens of thousands could gather outside at the Cardinal Center for the SCTP and the SASP we felt the same. Social distancing outside, in fresh air with ample amounts of sunshine seemed to be what the competitors desired and the largest conventional smallbore prone and metric 3x40 3P championship of the year was held at the Chief Wa-Ke-De Range in Bristol Indiana. The CMP, NRA, and USA shooting cancelled their National Championships so the ASSA was the only game in the country. We drew 86 conventional prone and F-Class competitors including some of the very best in the country from the USAMU and USA Shooting teams as well as some of the finest collegiate shooters. For 3P there were 90 competitors on the line competing for the Karen Monez trophy. In addition to an very well attended sit down Q/A with the Army Marksmanship there was junior smallbore camp conducted simultaneously and adjacent to the the 100 point range by the X-Count.
